Our Good Friends the Slagels

Recently, Kate and I had a wonderful weekend with our dear friends and brother- and sister-in-Christ Zach and Noelle Slagel. In addition to be treated to a wonderful Mediterranean shrimp dish (inspired by their trip to Italy), we shared different things on our hearts, what the LORD has been teaching us, visited downtown Greenville (really nice, by the way), hung out on Furman University's campus in the rain and had an incredible lunch at Welcome to Moe's (that's what our niece Ava calls it. :))

Zach and Noelle will be missionaries to a to-be-named country, probably leaving in 2011. But one thing's for sure: we will remain good friends across thousands of miles and throughout decades. We are so blessed to know them and call them friends.

If anybody out there is looking for a worthy Christian missionary effort to contribute to, I can tell you this couple is worth investing in. No matter what country or what their ultimate aim, their goal will be to proclaim the Name of Jesus Christ with fully surrendered lives to Him. I am grateful our family will always have a part in their ministry!!

Overheard in Charlotte - Episode #2

Recently, we heard of a friend who was being considered for a prestigious position at one of Mecklenburg County's women's clubs. While sitting in the backseat, she overheard this conversation:

Lady 1: I have to drive down to Columbia next week.

Lady 2: Oh, could I come to Columbia with you?

Lady 1: Sure... why Columbia?

Lady 2: Oh, that's where my furs are stored.

Apparently, people "store furs." We'll let you figure this one out.
